China’s Protection of Intellectual Property Network: Guangdong Deploys Patent – Intensive Product Cultivation and Promotion Project

On July 15, 2025, following the work deployment of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, government, and the China National Intellectual Property Administration, the Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Administration issued a notice to deploy the project. The aim is to promote the high – quality development of patent – intensive industries and new productive forces.

In policy guidance, it will be incorporated into the construction of a strong intellectual property province, with research on relevant indicator systems and exploration of a full – process management system. For ecological system construction, cultivation and promotion paths will be broadened, bases will be built, and recognition results will be better used. Regarding financial support, targeted financial products will be launched, and information will be accurately pushed to financial institutions. In service and supervision optimization, fast – track channels will be opened, and strict review will be conducted. For publicity, an online exhibition hall will be established, and typical cases will be explored.

China’s Protection of Intellectual Property Rights Network: 15 Innovation Achievements of Xiamen Enterprises Win Xiamen Patent Awards

The list of the 10th Xiamen Patent Awards in Fujian is out, featuring 15 patents. There is 1 special – prize patent, 3 first – prize patents, 8 second – prize patents, 1 design gold – medal, and 2 design silver – medals. Launched in 2012 and held biennially, the awards aim to honor patent holders contributing to Xiamen’s development and boost intellectual property work. The winning patents span industries like smart grid, advanced non – ferrous metal materials, etc. The special – prize winner, “Battery device, power supply system and related control method” by Kehua Data Co., Ltd., has made innovative breakthroughs. The 3 first – prize patents are from Xiamen Honglu Tungsten & Molybdenum Industry Co., Ltd., Xiamen Wangsu Co., Ltd., and Xiamen Bosheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

Jiangsu IP Office Signs Regional Collaboration and Assistance Agreements with Shaanxi, Jilin, and Qinghai IP Offices

To implement national regional development strategies, the Jiangsu Intellectual Property Office has signed regional collaboration and assistance agreements with the IP offices of Shaanxi, Jilin, and Qinghai. The agreements aim to promote regional cooperation in the IP service industry.

Jiangsu will focus on the three provinces’ needs in talent, capacity, and industry development. It will use its IP advantages to explore new development models and boost regional economic growth. There are 26 assistance tasks, including supporting the training of practitioners.

In Shaanxi, it will promote patent resource sharing; in Jilin, share high – quality resources; in Qinghai, deepen assistance for geographical indication products.

Next, Jiangsu will work closely with the three provinces, improve the cooperation mechanism, and promote project implementation to support national strategies and the construction of an IP – strong country.

China’s Protection of Intellectual Property Rights Network

On July 8, the Market Supervision Bureau of Dangyang City, Hubei Province, held its first on – site trademark training event in Yuxiao Town, attracting over 40 participants from local farmers’ professional cooperatives and individual businesses.

In recent years, Dangyang’s characteristic industries have developed rapidly, but many operators face issues like weak trademark awareness. To tackle this, the bureau set up a three – level service system. The market supervision offices collected front – line information, and the intellectual property section prepared a guide and training programs. The training covered trademark basics, registration, use, and infringement protection.

The first training paves the way for the “Trademark Training in Townships” program. The bureau aims to finish training across all 10 towns (streets) in July. In the future, it will set up “trademark service contact points” to offer one – on – one services and promote the integration of trademark strategies and rural revitalization.

Guangxi Liuzhou Promotes High – quality Development of the Trademark Agency Industry

Recently, to implement CNIPA’s requirements on trademark agency credit evaluation management, the Liuzhou Market Supervision and Administration Bureau organized a training for local trademark agencies. The training focused on the latest industry requirements, with experts from the regional market supervision bureau interpreting relevant policy documents and using case studies to analyze key tasks. Agency representatives said it enriched their knowledge and promoted industry standardization. The bureau will continue to enhance local agencies’ core capabilities to offer better IP services.

WIPO Announces 2025 Global Awards Winners: Honoring IP-Driven Innovation and Impact

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced the 2025 Global Awards winners. Ten SMEs and startups from 95 countries, among over 780 applicants, won. Their products span from antibody therapies to sustainable protein fermentation technologies, showing IP’s power in enhancing lives and driving tech progress.

In its fourth year, the WIPO Global Awards recognize entrepreneurs using IP to grow businesses and contribute to society and the economy. This year’s winners are diverse innovators in various fields.

The ceremony was held on July 11, 2025, at WIPO’s Geneva headquarters. Winners get rewards like one – on – one guidance, global visibility, long – term access to resources, and sponsored attendance at events.

In 2025, two special awards were added for diversity. Edda Aradóttir of Carbfix won the Best Female Entrepreneur, and Aishwarya Karnataki of Glovatrix won the Best Young Entrepreneur.

The program aligns with WIPO’s mission to make innovation accessible via IP. WIPO is a UN agency serving global innovators and creators.

EPO publishes Annual Review 2024

The European Patent Office (EPO) released its Annual Review 2024 and a video today. It indicates that the EPO is progressing well with its Strategic Plan 2028 driven by five key factors. The record – high productivity in patent – granting positively impacted the Office’s financial sustainability while ensuring high quality.

EPO President António Campinos noted high demand for European patents due to continuous improvements in accessibility, quality, and efficiency. In 2024, the EPO published a Quality Action Plan and a dashboard for transparency, enhanced early collaboration, improved substantive quality, and strengthened its talent base through over 80 user meetings.

Digitalization of examiner actions advanced the EPO towards a fully digital PGP. AI – supported classification expanded, and a new Legal Interactive Platform was launched. Major releases of MyEPO services in April and November improved user – friendliness.

The EPO strengthened cooperation with member states and global partners. The demand for unitary protection, especially among SMEs, grew significantly in 2024. Fee reductions were offered to smaller applicants, and the EPO’s international influence expanded. It also increased access to patent knowledge via various tools.

The Annual Review 2024 comes with detailed annex reports, demonstrating the EPO’s commitment to transparency and good governance.
