Jiangxi Strengthens High-Value Patent Cultivation

To showcase the leading role of high-value patents in key industrial clusters and regional innovation in Jiangxi, and promote industrial transformation and high-quality development, the Jiangxi Intellectual Property Office will soon start the application process for the 2025 high-value patent cultivation project. It focuses on twelve key industries in the “1269” Action Plan, like electronic information and new energy. Joint applications from enterprises, universities, research institutions, and service providers are encouraged. Project – undertaking units should achieve results in patent information application, layout, quality, protection, and utilization in two years. This initiative will drive the shift of Jiangxi’s intellectual property creation from quantity to quality, support core technology R & D, enhance industrial competitiveness, and boost the province’s high – quality economic development.


Guangxi Actively Promotes the Transformation and Application of “Double Five-Star” Patents

Recently, the Guangxi Market Supervision Administration (Intellectual Property Office) has been implementing the CNIPA’s deployment on promoting the transformation and application of “double five-star” patents. It actively obtained relevant data from the CNIPA to boost local industrial development.

It strengthened data support by analyzing “double five-star” patents and creating a national industrial dynamic heat – map, and screened a suitable patent database. It also focused on key areas for precise matching, holding a series of “Intellectual Property Chain in Guangxi” events in 2025. By publishing patents and compiling manuals, it improved the precision of patent transformation. So far, Guangxi has completed 7 analysis reports and promoted over 1,600 patents.

In the future, the administration will innovate transformation methods, increase promotion efforts, and introduce more high – quality patents to turn the high – value patent advantage into an industrial development advantage.


National Intellectual Property Administration’s Party Group Deeply Studies and Implements the Spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee

On November 12, the theoretical learning center group of the CNIPA’s Party group held a special session to study the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, presided over by Party secretary and director Shen Changyu. During the 14th Five – Year Plan, China’s IP cause made remarkable progress under the CPC Central Committee’s leadership, and the first – stage goal of an IP – strong country and 14th Five – Year Plan tasks were basically completed. The “Proposal” adopted by the plenary session offers top – level design for the next five years. Studying and implementing the plenary session’s spirit is a major political task. It’s necessary to strengthen learning and publicity, implement the CPC Central Committee’s requirements, formulate a high – quality 15th Five – Year Plan for IP, and strengthen Party leadership. Party group members exchanged experiences, and relevant personnel participated in the learning.


Strengthen Administrative Guidance to Rectify Improper Marketing of Internet Agency Services

Recently, the Department of Promotion of Intellectual Property Application of the CNIPA and relevant departments held an administrative guidance meeting to regulate improper marketing of agency services on the Internet. Representatives from relevant departments and 10 Internet platform enterprises attended. The meeting reported the progress of cleaning up improper – marketing clues, interpreted improper – marketing types and disposal basis. It stressed that platforms should recognize the importance of standardizing the agency industry, implement supervision, and strengthen review. Platforms promised to optimize verification, intensify inspections, and improve compliance management. Statistics show that relevant platforms have blocked over 900 illegal pieces of information, handled over 22,000 items, rectified over 1,100, banned nearly 500 accounts, and expanded the inspection keyword library to over 500 entries.


2025 PCT Advanced Roadshow Promotional Conference Held in China

Recently, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) Advanced Roadshow Promotional Conference took place in Shandong and Guangxi. Co – hosted by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization, it was organized by the All – China Association of Patent Agents, the Shandong Intellectual Property Office, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Intellectual Property Office. Experts introduced the latest PCT system developments and application and examination practices, and answered on – site questions. Around 300 representatives from enterprises, universities, service institutions, and local agencies attended. The conference enhanced understanding and application of the PCT system, improving overseas patent layout and protection. Experts also conducted research on relevant enterprises and institutions.


WIPO Global Service System Promotes High – quality Development of AI Industry in Hangzhou

On November 10, a promotional event on the WIPO global service system’s role in boosting the AI industry’s high – quality development was held in Hangzhou. Co – hosted by the Zhejiang Intellectual Property Office and WIPO, and involving multiple organizations, it attracted over 100 representatives. WIPO experts interpreted core policies of global service systems relevant to enterprises’ international development, demonstrated support for the AI industry’s innovation and expansion, and introduced international IP layout. In the interactive session, participants exchanged views with experts on overseas IP protection and international application. The experts’ responses solved enterprises’ IP problems, guiding them to enhance competitiveness. The event brought international IP strategies to Zhejiang’s AI industry, deepened communication with WIPO, and provided new impetus for enterprises to improve IP application, protect achievements, explore markets, and strengthen competitiveness.

So far, 7 analysis reports have been completed and over 1600 patents promoted. In the future, the administration will innovate transformation methods, increase promotion, and introduce more high – quality patents to support Guangxi’s industrial transformation and high – quality development.

New Digital Library: your go-to source for innovation knowledge

On November 14, 2025, the EPO’s Observatory on Patents and Technology launched a new Digital Library, enhancing access to Europe’s innovation ecosystem. It integrates reports, studies, videos, podcasts and interactive data from the EPO and trusted partners. Materials are well – categorised, searchable and supported by knowledge maps. This platform allows innovation ecosystem actors like researchers, policymakers and technology transfer offices to gain insights for progress and evidence – based decisions. It supports better policies and research by improving understanding in digital, sustainable and technological fields. With hundreds of entries from the EPO and partners, the diverse assets are grouped into five main collections: Actors of innovation, Countries and regions, Environment and sustainability, Industries, and Science and technology.


epi Marks 100th Council Meeting

On November 7, 2025, a celebration named “epi Council – Past, Present and Future” was held to commemorate the 100th Council meeting of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi). Christoph Ernst, the EPO Vice – President for Legal and International Affairs, attended the event and congratulated epi on its important role in the European patent system since 1977, highlighting the close partnership between the EPO and epi.

Epi has been fundamental for European patent attorneys. The EPO – epi cooperation has achieved multiple feats, including the establishment of the European Patent Academy, management and reform of the EQE, and creation of the EPAC, which offers new career opportunities.

Ernst noted epi’s active participation in discussions on various aspects and emphasized the need for continuous cooperation to address challenges such as AI, biotechnology, and digital transformation. The partnership is crucial for the European patent system to maintain high – quality globally.

On October 13, the EPO held its annual technical meeting with epi’s EPPC and Biotechnology Committee, led by EPO Vice – President Steve Rowan and chaired by COO Angel Aledo Lopez.
